What better way is there to kick-start our blog than by giving you lovely lot a quick how-to guide for checking the fit of your bra?
Wearing a bra that properly fits will not only change the way you look, we guarantee it’ll change the way you feel too – whether you’re a perky A cup or voluptuous FF. A bra should be firm round the back, nicely fitted in the cup and the straps shouldn’t be doing all the work – when all this works together you lift your bust, define your waist and even prevent back and shoulder ache.
So where to start?
First pop on your best fitting bra and check the following:
The back band – This is where you support the weight of the breasts, it should be firm, but not restrictively tight. When fitted on the loosest clasp the back band should only be able to stretch about an inch from your back – any more and you won’t be getting enough support. Over time the elastic will wear so tighten the clasps as needed.
The cups – There are two main ways of checking the cup on your bra. Firstly check that the central panel sits neatly against your breast bone, if it sits away you need go up a cup size or two. Secondly check the cups sit smoothly against the curve of your breast, if you’re bulging out the sides try a cup larger or if there’s some gaping you need to go down a cup.
The straps – So many women suffer from back ache or shoulder indents because they use straps to hold the weight of the breasts – but remember, the band should do most of the holding. You should tighten the straps until they feel comfortable but be able to pull the straps off the shoulder without the breasts dropping.
