It’s our favourite time of year – the Moda Lingerie and Swimwear Show. And last week we made our way up to Birmingham for our annual trip. After travelling down Saturday evening after a busy day in the shop, it was early to bed before the Sunday show.
Following a morning of blow dries, manicures and assembling outfits, we were ready for a busy day of fashion lingerie, wine and beautiful women (oh, and of course business!) – a little more glamorous than our usual Sundays.
Catwalk shows
We were lucky enough to be invited to the Moda show as VIP guests! This meant a luxury hotel and complimentary drinks throughout the day – well, picking beautiful lingerie is thirsty work!
The buzz was incredible! As the models strutted their stuff down the catwalk, the wine was flowing and music pounded from the stage. We saw the upcoming fashions for the seasons ahead and fell in love the stunning array of blues, proving to be favourites for Autumn/Winter. Collections also came along in reds, greens and of course blacks – so you’ll be seeing some truly gorgeous colours hitting our shelves in the coming months.
Scouting for stock
Before our meetings with our lovely lingerie reps, we made the most of the opportunity to see what else is about. We’re always on the lookout for something new and things that catch our eye. The beauty of Moda is that there’s always a handful of smaller, independent designers. We love taking a look around and checking out their new lines, seeing the beautiful lingerie they have to offer.
However, this year we had a mission – we were on the lookout for some new swimwear lines to sit alongside out current collections. And we’re pleased to say we think we’ve found an exciting new collection for our little boutique. We’re not saying any more for now, but watch this space – we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Modelling the collection
We spent our afternoon meeting with our reps from Fantasie, b.tempt’d and Wacoal, immersing ourselves in their gorgeous new collections being modelling by an abundance of beautiful women. What lucky ladies we are!
The models are brilliant, working tirelessly showcasing all the different lingerie for us. This is such an important part of selecting the right collections. Seeing how they fit and how different they look compared to on the hanger. Best of all the models are what you’d call Û÷true women’. And with all their confidence they’ve got lumps, bumps and come in different shapes and sizes. It means we get an idea of what the lingerie will look like on our customers, real women who come in and see us every day.
Moda comes to an end
No day at the Moda Lingerie and Swimwear Show would be complete without a glass of wine in the Skytop Lounge – a welcome reward after a busy day and a chance to catch up on notes.
We saw some really exciting collections, which will soon be gracing our shelves ready for you lovely lot. Luckily for us picking and choosing our collections is all about fun, we tend to agree on colours and designs – no mother-daughter squabbles there!
After a restful evening and an early night, the next morning we sent a few more hours with our reps and bid farewell to Moda for another six months. A few hours on the motorway later, and we’re home – filled with anticipation and excitement of what’s to come. You’re in for a treat ladies!
